Sarah’s Food Drive is thrilled to be hosting the 2nd Annual Battle of Bayview Local Business Challenge.

Combined efforts of the Bayview local business community last year raised nearly 10,000 pounds of food/funds for Sarah’s Food Drive & Daily Bread Food Bank.

Sarah and Claire have an ambitious goal of raising 80,000 pounds of food.

Lots of activities planned for September/October.

Local Business Challenge Results Are In!

Thanks to the combined efforts of our fantastic local business partners this year, we are happy to announce that almost 250 Thanksgiving holiday hampers were purchased for clients of the Daily Bread Food Bank.

When you add that to the online donations from local businesses (raised through promotional events, employee challenges or direct donations), participating businesses raised approximately 10,000 pounds of food for Daily Bread Food Bank.

The Local Business Challenge Results

Leaside Business Challenge

This year, Sarah’s Food Drive has added something new, building on the success of the 3 year-old School Challenge. Local Leaside businesses have been challenged to participate this year in the Leaside Business Challenge.

Businesses have been divided into 2 teams: Team East and Team West.

On Team East, we have:

Sarah is 2014 Me to We award winner for Youth in Action, 12 and under

We are thrilled to announce that Sarah has been recognized for her work on Sarah’s Food Drive with the 2014 Me to We Award in the Youth in Action, 12 and under category. She accepted her award today at We Day Toronto, alongside the 5 other 2014 Me to We award winners.

While Sarah accepted this award personally, this recognition is the result of the tireless work of so many in our community, and the tremendous support of friends and family over the past 6 years.

Sarah shares this award with them.

Sarah & Claire Recognized as Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy

We are thrilled to announce that the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Greater Toronto Chapter has recognized Sarah and Claire as Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy.

The AFP Philanthropy Awards recognize leadership in philanthropy. Sarah and Claire were nominated by the Daily Bread Food Bank. An honour to have been nominated. Truly an honour to have been selected.

The 2014 AFP Philanthropy Award recipients, including Sarah and Claire, will be honoured at the Philanthropy Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, November 26th.

Sarah’s 7th Annual Food Drive!

Sarah sitting on a mountain of cans at the Daily Bread Food BankWith the first week of school behind us, Sarah’s Food Drive is once again just around the corner. Here are a few key dates, and Sarah and Claire’s goal for this year’s drive.

This year’s food drive will run from September 27th to October 12th

Starting September 27th, you will once again be able to drop off food at McDowell’s valu-mart at 1500 Bayview Avenue. McDowell’s valu-mart will also be hosting a BBQ on Saturday, October 11th.

The school challenge will run from October 6th to October 10th. This year, there are 13 schools involved in this year’s Battle of Bayview (East vs West).

Sarah and Claire’s goal this year is to raise 70,000 pounds of food. They will need the help of everyone in our community to help make this happen!

Sarah nominated for 2014 MeToWe Award!

We have some exciting news to share! Sarah has been nominated for the Canadian Living Me to We Awards in the Youth in Action Category (under 12 category). She is one of only 3 nominees from across the country. We are thrilled that Sarah and her work with Sarah’s Food Drive have been recognized!

The winner will be decided by online vote. Voting is open from May 27th until June 6th. The winner will win $3,000 for their charity of choice.

This would be such a great way to kick off Sarah’s 7th Annual Food Drive…and much needed money for the Daily Bread Food Bank, especially at this time of year.
